Doctrines of Devils

(1 Tim. 4:1)
“Christian” leaders teaching- I am god

For false Christs and false prophets shall rise, and shall shew signs and wonders, to seduce, if it were possible, even the elect  (Mark 13:22). When Shirley MacLaine goes public with "I am God, I am God!" the church rightly proclaims her a sign of the end times. Yet when well known “Christian” leaders say the same thing, we smile and applaud their heresies as new light. When are we going to wake up and try the spirits whether they are of God: because many false prophets are gone out into the world (1 John 4:1)?

·         JOHN AVANZINI: "[The Spirit of God] ... declared in the earth today what the eternal purpose of God has been through the ages ... that He is duplicating Himself in the earth" (John Avanzini, "The End Time Manifestation of the Sons of God," Morris Cerullo World Evangelism tape).

·         MORRIS CERULLO: “You’re not looking at (me); you're looking at God. You're looking at Jesus.” (The End Time Manifestation of the Sons of God," Morris Cerullo World Evangelism tape)

·         KENNETH COPELAND: "Adam is God manifested in the flesh" (“Following the Faith of Abraham" tape # 01-3001 “You don't have a god in you, you are one.” (The Force of Love tape).

·         PAUL CROUCH: “Christians are little gods . . . I am a little god” (TBN-July 7, 1986).

·         CREFLO DOLLAR: We are gods, in this earth, and it’s about time we start operating like gods instead of a bunch of mere powerless humans” (April 17, 2002 Changing your World, LeSea Broadcasting).

·         KENNETH HAGIN, SR: "You are as much the incarnation of God as Jesus Christ was...the believer is as much an incarnation as was Jesus of Nazareth". ("Word Of Faith" Dec. 1980, p. 14).

·         BENNY HINN: “Are you ready for some revelation knowledge? You are God!” ("Our Position In Christ", tape # AO31190-1). "You are a little god on earth running around". ("Praise-a-thon" broadcast on TBN, November, 1990).

Please, please, listen. These “mini messiah’s” appear nightly on “Christian” television bragging about “new moves” of God that simply cannot be supported by Scripture. They are provably false prophets and teachers; deceptive, deadly, and dangerous. If you can’t see them for what they really are, it is because you too have been deceived (2 Cor. 11:3). Now you might try apologizing for them by saying: “Well you don’t understand them or what they mean.” Well, let’s cut to the chase with Someone who knows full well, Jesus: And he said, Take heed that ye be not deceived: for many shall come in my name, saying, I am Christ . . . go ye not therefore after them (Luke 21:8). It’s time for us to try the spirits (1 John 4:1).

Arnold Murray's Damnable Heresies

Arnold Murray is the "Pastor" of a church called the Shepherd's Chapel out of Gravette, Ark, with over hundreds of television stations carrying his ministry. Mr. Murray presents himself as a Christian scholar, calls himself "Dr.", and says he is an ex-marine who served in the Korean war where he was wounded.  Unfortunately, proof of his doctorate degree is not available.  He also refuses to provide any documentation regarding his scholastic achievements.  In fact, getting any information on Mr. Murray is very difficult.  He is rather private about his personal history and has refused to provide any biographical information about himself. What we learn of Mr. Murray is what he tells us on his television show and his website.  Also, it is immaterial whether or not Mr. Murray has a doctorate.  He does not need one to be an adequate teacher.  But since he refers to himself as "Dr.", it would be nice to know from what institution he received his credentials.

Mr. Murray stated that when he was young he attended many different churches and that he has incorporated some of the teachings of these different churches into his current theology. Again, these different churches are not mentioned.  I would be very curious to know which ones they were, especially if some of them were non-Christian cults.

Mr. Murray, or "Pastor" Murray, as his followers call him, teaches a brand of Christianity with many problems. Mr. Murray denies the doctrine of the Trinity, denies the existence of hell and the rapture, and states that Eve had sexual relations with the devil.

When watching his television show it becomes quickly evident that he is a bit condescending to those whom he claims are misled, something that seems to have rubbed off on his followers. He justifies this approach by stating that he was in the Marines and learned how to "teach his troops" with discipline.  It seems his approach is lacking the humility and grace of the Holy Spirit which is demonstrated in (a some teaching videos) where Murray threatens someone with a 9mm handgun.  In addition, it seems that he has made a false prophecy as is documented by the Ontario Consultants on Religious Tolerance, a secular religious analysis organization.

Mr. Arnold Murray also frequently refers to the Christian Identity  movement which teaches that the British and, therefore, the Americans and Canadians, are the true descendants of the ancient Israelites the 10 lost tribes.  Jews (according to Murray’s heresies) in Israel are really descended from Cain who was the result of sexual intercourse between Eve and Satan.  Murray also teaches that all people had a pre-existence in spirit-bodies before they were born here on earth. (Editor note: Whoa! Sounds like Mormonism –Dr. Mike)

Mr. Murray supports his off-base theological positions by interpreting verses in light of his pre-conceived ideas, sometimes stripping biblical verses of their context.  He also selectively appeals to the Strong's concordance, cites what Greek and Hebrew words mean, and weaves his theological positions into the text.  In reality, all he has done is justify his ideas through his unsound interpretive techniques.

The fact that Mr. Murray deviates from orthodoxy in some significant areas (i.e., trinity), that he is cryptic about his qualifications and experience, that he is often rudely condemning of those who do not agree with him, and that he has non-biblically based teachings are all signs of a false teacher.  I recommend that you stay far away from this man and the Shepherd's Chapel.

Kenneth Copeland's Damnable Heresies

PMI EDITOR'S NOTE: Mr. Copeland is an integral component in a group known as Word of Faith movement.[1] His voluminous teachings are readily available in ministry literature and other media including the Voice of Victory magazine, tapes, television appearances, and across the internet. For mass distribution purposes, this evidence has been shortened from 8 pages down to two. My prayer is that you will take your Bible and try the spirits behind the teachings I've enclosed in this tract because it is our contention- and we're not alone- that Mr. Copeland is a peddler of damnable heresies (2 Pet. 2:1-3). I challenge you to find these bizarre teachings anywhere in the Word of God!

Jesus was infected/injected with Satan’s sin nature in order for redemption to work. “He [Jesus] is suffering all that there is to suffer. There is no suffering left apart from Him. His emaciated, poured out, little, wormy spirit is down in the bottom of that thing [hell]. And the Devil thinks he’s got Him destroyed.” Kenneth Copeland (Believer’s Voice of Victory program, April 21, 1991)
“The righteousness of God was made to be sin. He accepted the sin nature of Satan in His own spirit. And at the moment that He did so, He cried, ‘My God, My God, why hast thou forsaken Me?’ You don’t know what happened at the cross. Why do you think Moses, upon instruction of God, raised the serpent upon that pole instead of a lamb? That used to bug me. I said, ‘Why in the world would you want to put a snake up there — the sign of Satan? Why didn’t you put a lamb on that pole?’ And the Lord said, ‘Because it was a sign of Satan that was hanging on the cross.’ He said, ‘I accepted, in My own spirit, spiritual death; and the light was turned off.”
Kenneth Copeland (What Happened from the Cross to the Throne, 1990, audiotape #02-0017, side 2)

Jesus “put Himself into the hands of Satan when He went to that cross, and took that same nature that Adam did [when he sinned].”?
Kenneth Copeland (The Incarnation, 1985, audiotape #01-0402, side 1)

Jesus is said to have remarked, “It was a sign of Satan that was hanging on the cross….I accepted, in my own spirit, spiritual death; and the light was turned off.”? Kenneth Copeland (What Happened from the Cross to the Throne, 1990, audiotape #02-0017, side 2)
[Jesus] “had to give up His righteousness”? Kenneth Copeland (The Incarnation, 1985, audiotape #01-0402, side 2)
“How did Jesus then on the cross say, ‘My God.’ Because God was not His Father any more. He took upon Himself the nature of Satan. And I’m telling you Jesus is in the middle of that pit. He’s suffering all that there is to suffer, there is no suffering left . . . apart from Him. His emaciated, little wormy spirit is down in the bottom of that thing and the devil thinks He’s got Him destroyed. But, all of a sudden God started talking.” Kenneth Copeland (Believer’s Voice of Victory, TBN, April 21, 1991)
The cross wasn’t enough, Jesus redeemed us in hell “When Jesus cried, ‘It is finished!’ He was not speaking of the plan of redemption. There were still three days and nights to go through before He went to the throne…Jesus’ death on the cross was only the beginning of the complete work of redemption.” Kenneth Copeland (Jesus — Our Lord of Glory, Believer’s Voice of Victory Magazine 10, 4; April 1982, p. 3)
“Satan conquered Jesus on the Cross and took His spirit to the dark regions of hell”? Kenneth Copeland (Holy Bible: Kenneth Copeland Reference Edition, 1991, p.129)
“He [Jesus] allowed the devil to drag Him into the depths of hell….He allowed Himself to come under Satan’s control…every demon in hell came down on Him to annihilate Him….They tortured Him beyond anything anybody had ever conceived. For three days He suffered everything there is to suffer.”? Kenneth Copeland (The Price of It All, 3)
Jesus died spiritually. “Jesus had to go through that same spiritual death in order to pay the price. Now it wasn’t the physical death on the cross that paid the price for sin, because if it had of been any prophet of God that had died for the last couple of thousand years before that could have paid that price. It wasn’t physical death anybody could do that.”? Kenneth Copeland (What Satan Saw on the Day of Pentecost, audio tape #020022)
Jesus was the first born again man. “He allowed the devil to drag Him into the depths of hell as if He were the most wicked sinner who ever lived … Every demon in hell came down on Him to annihilate Him … [They] tortured Him beyond anything that anybody has ever conceived … In a thunder of spiritual force, the voice of God spoke to the death-whipped, broken, punished spirit of Jesus … [in] the pit of destruction, and charged the spirit of Jesus with resurrection power! Suddenly His twisted, death-wracked spirit began to fill out and come back to life … He was literally being reborn before the devil’s very eyes. He began to flex His spiritual muscles … Jesus Christ dragged Satan up and down the halls of hell … Jesus … was raised up a born-again man … The day I realized that a born-again man had defeated Satan, hell, and death, I got so excited … !” Kenneth Copeland (“The Price of it All,” Believer’s Voice of Victory, September 1991, p. 4)
“In hell He [Jesus] suffered for you and for me. The Bible says hell was made for Satan and his angels. It was not made for men. Satan was holding the Son of God there illegally … The trap was set for Satan and Jesus was the bait.” Kenneth Copeland (Walking in the Realm of the Miraculous, 1979, p. 77)
“The Spirit of God spoke to me and He said, “Son, realize this. Now follow me in this and don’t let your tradition trip you up.” He said, “Think this way — a twice-born man whipped Satan in his own domain.” And I threw my Bible down… like that. I said, “What?” He said, “A born-again man defeated Satan, the firstborn of many brethren defeated him.” He said, “You are the very image, the very copy of that one.” I said, “Goodness, gracious sakes alive!” And I began to see what had gone on in there, and I said, “Well now you don’t mean, you couldn’t dare mean, that I could have done the same thing?” He said, “Oh yeah, if you’d had the knowledge of the Word of God that He did, you could have done the same thing, ’cause you’re a reborn man too.” Kenneth Copeland (Substitution and Identification, tape #00-0202, side 2)
” …that Word of the Living God went down into that pit of destruction and charges the spirit of Jesus with resurrection power! Suddenly, His twisted, death-wracked spirit began to fill out and come back to life. He began to look like something the devil has never seen before. He was literally being reborn before the devil’s very eyes. He began to flex his spiritual muscles… Jesus was born again — the firstborn from the dead.” Kenneth Copeland (The Price of it All, Believer’s Voice in Victory, vol 19 September 1991, p.9)
“He [Jesus] was down in that pit and there he suffered the punishment for three horrible days and nights for Adam’s treason… There is a new birth takes place in the very depths of the earth, when the command of God says ‘That’s enough, loose him and let him go’.”
Kenneth Copeland (What Happened from the Cross to the Throne, 1990, audiotape #02-0017, side 2)
Anyone could have redeemed us. “It wasn’t a physical death on the cross that paid the price for sin…anybody can do that.”?
Kenneth Copeland (What Satan Saw on the Day of Pentecost, audiotape #BCC-19, side 1)

by Dr. Mike Johnston

The first sign Jesus gave heralding the last days was deception (Matt. 24:4). This warning was later echoed by the Apostles John (1 John 4:1); Peter 2:1-3); Jude; and of course Paul: Now the Spirit speaketh expressly, that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils (1 Timothy 4:1). This Heretics List represents a growing collection of false prophets and teachers in the church now promoting the Occult New Age, *the Emergent Church, Latter Rain-Manifest Sons of God, Word of Faith, and a myriad of other chaotic Charismania collectively promoting and employing blasphemous eastern religious practices such as Shamanism (occult overtures), kundalini (slain in the spirit), divination (words of knowledge, prophesies, tongues and interpretations so called). Moreover, we name the perpetrators just like Paul did (1 Tim. 1:20; 2 Tim. 1:15; 2:17); John did (3 John 1:9); and Jesus did (Rev. 2:20). If you discover your favorite "Bible" teacher mentioned, I challenge you to research their message before you attack this messenger thereby proving you have been woefully deceived by them (Matt. 24:24). For an exercise in doctrinal soundness, may I suggest you acquire- and devour- an **Old Scofield KJV Study Bible and a subscription to the Sword of the Lord - POB 1099 - Murfreesboro TN 37133.
